Program Information
Stop by Sojubang, the kitchen of the palace, to taste doseuksurasang, a modern interpretation of the 12-cheop bansang, also known as surasang, enjoyed by the kings of Joseon on a daily basis.
As you enjoy the delicious surasang, a traditional Korean music performance will be held to make it a night of taste and style.
“Doseuk” is an old term for “dosirak,” meaning “packed meal.” The 12-cheop bansang, referring to the daily meal served to the king and queen, was given a modern twist to be presented to the program participants. The 12 dishes that make up doseuksurasang represent the traditional food philosophy founded in Eumyangohaeng (yin-yang and the five elements) and Yaksikdongwon (medicinal resources are the same as the sources of food/nutrition.)
The Gyeongbokgung Starlight Tour allows participants to explore the northern area of Gyeongbokgung Palace, which was not even open to the public during the Special Evening Admission programs. Participants can check out the restored Hyangwonjeong Pavilion in a peaceful atmosphere.
